Yes, the Fluweelengrot Christmas market is wheelchair accessible. The aisles are mostly flat. The Christmas market is also accessible to people in mobility scooters, walking bikes, or other aids.
No, dogs (or other animals) are not allowed inside during the Christmas market. Not even in a bag, stroller, or cart. Assistance dogs are allowed.
If you want to enjoy the Christmas market at Fluweelengrot in peace and quiet and take a good look at all the other beautiful things the cave has to offer, come on a weekday in November (it’s cheaper too). The peak period is on the weekends after Sinterklaas.
You can pay by debit card at the ticket office and at many stalls, but due to the location, this is never 100% guaranteed. Avoid disappointment and bring cash with you.
You can withdraw cash at the ticket office at the entrance to the Fluweelengrot Christmas market.
There are restrooms in the ticket office building at the entrance and approximately halfway along the Christmas market route. These are cleaned by a professional company, which charges a fee for using the restrooms.
It is not possible to reserve or rent a wheelchair at the Fluweelengrot Christmas Market. We have placed benches along the route within the Fluweelengrot Christmas Market for visitors to take a break.
The average visit lasts between one and one and a half hours. If you have booked other activities, this is a guideline. There is no limit to the amount of time you can spend there during opening hours.
Monday through Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. For exceptions, please check our website under the heading “Information.” The entrance to the cave closes 45 minutes before closing time, as you need at least 45 minutes to see everything. The restaurant in the cave closes at 6:30 p.m.

No. The Fluweelengrot Christmas Market is not affiliated with Museumkaart. Therefore, Museumkaart is not valid during the Fluweelengrot Christmas Market. The rest of the year, you can visit the Fluweelengrot Museum & Castle Ruins for free with your Museumkaart.

You can buy tickets online via our website. Find the desired date and time, place the tickets in the shopping cart, and pay. You can download the tickets immediately and you will receive an email with the tickets.
Yes, you can. Tickets are available at the ticket office. Because only a limited number of people are allowed in the cave at any one time, there may be queues at weekends and it may be full. People with an online ticket will then have priority with their reserved time slot.
We do not sell combination tickets at the ticket office. Online, you have the option to combine different attractions within Kerststad Valkenburg by date and time and then pay for them all at once.
Yes, the group rate applies for groups of 20 or more adults. For more information, see the section on Groups of 20 or more, or submit your question via the contact form on our website. At the ticket office, the group rate only applies if you pay for the entire group at once.
Yes, you can pay for the entire group at once at the ticket office.
The half-hour time slot indicates the time period during which you can enter the Fluweelengrot Christmas Market. Once inside, you may stay as long as you wish (within the opening hours). Please note that the entrance closes 45 minutes before the Fluweelengrot Christmas Market closes.

Please note: emails are not answered immediately. If you discover this at the entrance to the Fluweelengrot Christmas market, please report it at the ticket office.

Groups of 20 people or more
For tour operators and other groups of 20 people or more, the group rate of €8.50 per person applies from Monday to Thursday and €9.50 per person from Friday to Sunday. You can order tickets online via the webshop. If you have any additional questions, please fill in the contact form on our website.
For large groups, we offer the option of reserving a date/time. For more information, please send an email to: info@stve.nl or fill in the contact form on our website. We will then inform you about the conditions.

Bus drivers and tour guides traveling by bus receive free admission to the Fluweelengrot Christmas Market. They can report to the ticket office at the Fluweelengrot Christmas Market, where they will receive their tickets.
If your group has already visited and not all tickets have been used, it is not possible to return the remaining tickets. If you have not yet visited, please contact us at info@stve.nl.
